Official news update!

Good afternoon everyone. Sorry I haven’t been posting much. Been putting in some overtime at my job and have also been working on some stuff behind the scenes for my website. I have some news regarding that. A friend of mine is partnering with me to help to bring a new service to the area and to the world. I am making it official that I will be doing handicap consulting. If you have been on my webpage then you might have noticed a new tab regarding this.

I have decided to stop short of offering a full ADA compliant assessment at this time. I don’t currently have the time or resources to fully commit to that. I am worried that if I did that, I would be opening myself up to lawsuits if I missed something. Instead, I want to offer a handicap experience. I know my blog posts are dedicated to explaining things from my point of view. In this experience, I would like for you to get to experience some of it first hand. I would bring one of my extra chairs with me and I would literally take you around and show you what I have to deal with. Ideally I would like to get business owners and managers to pay me to come provide this experience in their place of business. That way they can see first hand some of the challenges that their business has. I would explain in detail the thought process I have when I go to pull in your business and the things that I have to pay attention to when I park. I would point out problem areas that I see and let you experience them first hand. I don’t know how much interest something like this will garner as I don’t have much as far as leads go. I am still working through how to get this started and I still would like to find some sponsors that would be interested in helping me make this venture a success.

I do have a clear plan forward on where I would like to take this experience. Once I have either secured the funds through sponsorships (or have earned enough from doing it), I want to provide a mobile mobility experience. My thought here is a bigger trailer that I can pull behind my pickup that is setup as a sort of mobility obstacle course. In it I would make sure to have a narrow hallway and a wider one, doors that swing both ways, and probably a mock-up bathroom. If I have enough room I would like to show the difference in how tables work at a restaurant. Once it is all set up I would like to take it to places like schools or businesses and set it up so that people can take a chair through it. I feel that if you set it up correctly, you could really open up a lot of eyes of what it takes to go through life in a chair. I like the thought of doing this at schools as it could be something that could really make an impression at a younger age and really inspire change in the world. I know there will be challenges but I also believe that I can help change the world.
