Small victories is some times what matters most!

We all look for the big victories. Sometimes it is the small ones that matter most. You see meme’s all the time trying to emphasize this and sometimes it motivates us and sometimes it doesn’t. This website is the ultimate test of that for me. I know I haven’t posted in a while but I feel like I need a better way to spread the word and get people to actually be able to see it. Facebook doesn’t really want to share it as I am not paying them to do so. Without some sponsorship, I can’t justify paying them to do so. That is my test of patience I guess. That said I do plan to get back into this and put more time and effort into it again. I have been putting in the effort, just not on this website itself, but more on that later.

I had a slight improvement in my day to day last week. I modeled and 3d printed a box that I mounted on my chair. It helped me do away with my bag that I used to carry my wallet and keys and phone in. The bag worked OK, but was a little bit of a pain has it had to hang on my left armrest. It kept shearing off the bolts on the armrest as it was to much weight. Also, in order for me to shut the door on my truck, I have to lift both armrests. This meant removing my bag every time. I found myself leaving my bag in my truck all the time when I was at home and even a lot of times when I went to visit my parents. Not a big deal, but at times I found myself needing something out of it when I was at home. So the new box allows me to carry my stuff with me which should make that better. I have used it for a week and so far so good. I call it my test box as it probably should be an inch taller but I am going to use it for another week or 2 to see what I would like to change about it for sure.

As the name of the website implies, I am trying to retain my mobility and for me and my independence. As such, I am always trying to come up with new ways to be able to do so. One of my top priorities right now is to find a way to be able to stretch my hips. I don’t talk about it as much, as I feel like I am being judged for it, but I have some pain in my hips. As far as I can tell, they don’t make a device or machine to help with this. I think they expect for you to have a nurse or attendant or physical therapist or someone to help you with this. That isn’t acceptable for me! My plan is to modify the stand up chair that I started but didn’t finish to do this. That project was stalled when I decided to change it up and make it an off-road chair as well. I have recently backed off that idea and plan to make one of my old scooters off-road instead.

I do have a little bit of news regarding sponsorship. Nothing has materialized yet but I do have a new person in my corner that has a lot of contacts that has a few leads. I hope it all works out but as I have said a few times in this post, it takes patients on my part. I now have an ever expanding list on what I would use the money for if I was to get it. I organized it in different brackets, depending on the funds added. Right now my biggest priority is new batteries for my chair. I bought some last week, but I bought ones that are to big to fit. I am on the fence about returning them as they would be perfect for my stand-up chair. It would be nice to get a small sponsor to help relieve me of this dilemma. I have a week or 2 to make this decision.
